I just want to start off by saying Happy New Year and I hope all is well. I hope everyone is blessed and optimistic about the coming year God has blessed us with. Welcome to "Good" Hair. I hope you enjoy this post and I hope your hair is doing whatever you want it to do at this very moment in time.

Okay, so let's get into it. When it comes to long hair, can I just be honest and say I LOVE IT! I alway have and I think I always will. I love long jet black hair that looks blue in the sun because it is so rich and dark. I like long hair when its silk pressed and swinging. I love long hair when its curly in an up do with baby hairs and the two lil pieces at pulled out at the side, and I love long box braids with a middle part that touches my knees. I just love long hair. I think its beautiful but I don't think it's superior.

I said all of that to say this. Long hair, short hair, relaxed hair, natural hair, or no hair is fine. ALL hair comes from God and who cares what your preference or hair goals are? The hair community is not the hair community that represents HEALTHY. It's essentially black girls who are going natural trying to grow waist length hair and I think that discourages a lot of people. I really feel like when my hair was going through it I was not able to accept what I had because I was not really given examples of hair that was going through it at that time. To be fair my hair has always for the most part been long BUT I did relax it and damaged my hair to the point where I had to cut it and I was very upset. I didn't get to enjoy the healthy medium length hair I had because I was reminded of long beautiful hair everywhere I turned when looking for ways to do my hair. On the flip I don't believe its the job of the hair community to give me that as well. Not a lot of people are going to post their struggles and the truth is that most people who you see with the long pretty hair started from somewhere and were consistent. They found what works for them and stuck to it to grow their hair.

Who cares? Okay so everyone knows "long hair, don't care" is for the girl with the long hair who is unapologetic about her tresses and rightfully so. But I kind of feel like with the hair community or natural hair community, its almost taught that long hair SHOULD be the goal. I don't think it should. I think HEALTHY hair should always be the goal and taking care of what God blessed us with so that when we are blessed with more (of whatever in this case hair) we know how to take care of it. If we are being honest, the hair community has always been about growing our hair waist length nobody ever really was like lets get healthy hair and pushed that first. We just saw a a lot of black girls showing up with this long pretty hair and wanted the same thing. We did exactly what they did when they put those relaxers in our hair as kids because we want a specific look. Its the look we appreciate not the journey not even the hair it's the vanity and the attention of it that we love. There is nothing wrong with loving your hair. God made women beautiful for a reason. He loves when we appreciate and take the time to use what he gave us to create beautiful attractive things. Never to idolize it but to glorify him. And while it may seem like just hair if it brings him honor its blessed. So with that being said, if your hair is long , short, growing, stuck, or where ever it is LOVE IT. I promise to provide something for all women that are having good hair days and bad. Reaching hair goals and aren't. Damaged and healthy hair. Natural hair or relaxed. 1A-4C texture. Straight or curly. It's all here at "Good" Hair.
